In 2001, Jonathan Guy moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to San Francisco Bay Area to play college baseball. By 2004, he went on his first foreign trip to Japan and from that day forward his whole perspective on life changed. He was always been motivated to travel due to his parents, brother, best friend, and mentors but what really influenced him to travel was seeing the world for himself.
By 2009, he moved to China where he embraced a community by working with students and families from all walks of life. After living abroad, Guy knew that he wanted to return to the United States to teach underserved students and to inspire them to travel see their blessings and help other endangered and mistreated communities of people, environment and wildlife.
Guy believed if young students could take steps to get on planes, they'd eventually make strides by flying across oceans. He believes traveling and serving communities is one of the best ways to actively engage. When he started working at Castlemont High School, he told his his family that his goal at Castlemont High School was to transform lives by introducing students to an education that was both foreign and domestic but yet realistic and obtainable.
