Jonathan Guy (Founder)

Founder

In 2001, Jonathan Guy moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to San Francisco Bay Area to play college baseball.  By 2004, he went on his first foreign trip to Japan and from that day forward his whole perspective on life changed.  He has always been motivated to travel due to his parents, older brother, best friend, and mentors.

In 2009, he moved to China where he embraced a community by working with families from all walks of life.  After living abroad, Guy knew that he wanted to return to the United States to teach marginalized communities and inspire them to travel while volunteering with endangered and mistreated communities of people, environment and wildlife.

Guy believed if students could take steps to get on planes, they'd eventually make strides by flying across oceans.  He believes traveling and serving communities is one of the best ways to actively engage and grow. When he started working at Castlemont High School, he told his family that his goal would be to transform lives by introducing students to an education that was both foreign and domestic, but yet realistic and obtainable.

"Traveling is its own education within itself." "It's when we share how we lived, learned, and grew that greatness is achieved. Live, learn, grow, and share!"

--Jonathan Guy

One of the things we're most excited about is Meui's ethical, cultural, and moral compass. We love how she teaches youth to acknowledge culture on our journeys over the Pacific Ocean.  The fact that she's experienced hardship as a refugee from Cambodia, really allows her to share and enlighten people while collaborating and working with them.
